Importance of Body Language in an Interview
So, you have been called for an interview. Well, that’s great news and we wish you all the best. But wait have you prepared yourself for the interview? No, we are not talking about the knowledge of the course curriculum or your wardrobe, but how you would present yourself through your body language.
There is huge importance of body language in an interview. Your posture, poses and gestures can make a lot of difference in an interview. Your body language speaks volumes about your personality and it should be correct so that it has a positive impact on the recruiter. Your body language will be confident when you wear comfortable and good clothes. If you feel comfortable and good about your clothes, then it will reflect in your body language too. There will no awkwardness in your gestures and you’ll be able to put across your point in front of the recruiters’ in the best manner.
You should sit still and curb that nervous energy that you might display in an interview and that can spell doom on your probable future with that particular organization. Most of the people have the habit of shaking their legs or foot while giving an interview. This is a sign of nervousness or anxiety and it is a complete no-no especially during an interview. You have to have a positive thinking and present yourself as who you actually are. You need not put on a game face but be natural and you’ll do wonders for yourself in the interview. Using hand gestures to put across your point in a firm yet assertive manner is okay but you should prevent the urge to overdo it. You can rest your hands on your knees and most importantly you should sit with a straight posture. Never bend yourself and sit in a hunched position. Sitting with a straight back exudes confidence and will put a good impression on the recruiter.
So, now you know the importance of body language in an interview and so you should make efforts to take corrective measures, if any, in your body language to present yourself in the best possible manner.
